Marketing, Information Technology And Shipping Business In The UK

Southern England has become established as a major hub of business in the UK. This is mainly down to the fact that the capital city of London is located in the South East of England. You can tell why other areas of business have sprung up in these areas. The cost of property for a company in the middle of London is expensive so lots of businesses have moved to the outskirts of London and along the main transport routes of the United Kingdom. This is why alot of places known for business in the South are found close to ports, shipping yards and motorways.

Portsmouth and Southampton are both maritime cities that have developed thanks to the import and export of goods throughout history. As a result increasing numbers of new industry has planted roots in both areas. Portsmouth business has a tradition of having been based around shipping and building ships for the navy, where as Southampton business began with the same sort of shipping industries but has since developed to include more of a cruising and tourism based industry. Both cities have also multiplied the amount of leisure, computer technologies and new media business, as the existing businesses in these locations require these sorts of services and there has also been a big increase in the number of real estate investors looking to develop land in the areas.

Information technology has become an important part of business as we all use computer systems in some form or another. Most information technology organisations are either based in the centre of major UK towns and cities or are located close to railway or motorway routes. Many information technology and web design companies are based around the M4 corridor this is because of the M4’s position. It is simple to get to all the major towns, cities and ports in the South with easy access to the North of England. This is why all sorts of data handling companies are also located around the same area as well as marketing and advertising companies.

Marketing services are something that businesses need more and more especially when times are difficult. A decent marketing company will deal with public relations, telemarketing, copy writing and strategic planning. Bournemouth has become a centre for marketing companies as it is close to Southampton, Portsmouth and other similar locations. Public relations Bournemouth are increasingly popular because of the range of scenic event venues and public services that are catered for in the town.

Treating Cold Sores

You can usually get rid of a cold sore naturally within ten days or so. Many people choose to wait out their cold sores, just ignoring them until they go away. While that is OK for some, othewrs want to treat them straight away. There are many different types of cold sore treatment available, from antiviral pills to over the counter and prescription creams. Many people also use conventional pain relievers like aspirin and acetaminophen as cold sore treatment.

Often on the first outbreak people are often recommended to take antiviral medications. These pills are only obtainable by prescription, so the cold sore sufferer must consult a doctor first. Cold sore medication such as acyclovir or famciclovir can provide pain relief and reduce the healing time of a cold sore. If you want antiviral medication to be effective, start taking it as soon as the cold sore appears

There are several types of creams used to treat cold sores. Creams containing docosanol are particularly useful. Docosanol is used to fight against the HSV-1 virus that causes cold sores and it can soothe the pain as well as help heal the cold sore sooner. Other types of cold sore treatment include creams designed to numb the area surrounding the cold sore and moisturizer creams that help revitalize the skin around the cold sore. Lip balm can also prevent the cold sore from cracking open.

Many traditional pain relief medicines like acetaminophen, aspirin, and ibuprofen are great cold sore treatments. These medicines treat the inflammation, providing pain relief. While there is no cure for cold sores, there are several types of cold sore treatment that make having a cold sore a shorter experience.

Always, if possible consult with a doctor before starting on any course of treatment

I Had to Leave Cheltenham in a Taxi Heading back to the Airport

After a recent visit to the Great regency town of Cheltenham in the heart of the Cotswolds, it becomes clear to see why this town is (or most of it) included within a conservation area of national importance.

When you arrive at Cheltenham Spa railway station, you are about a fifteen minute walk from the middle of town, although there is a bus service into town, I thought that with all my luggage, to hire one of the Cheltenham Taxis queing outside the statio, as that would take me directly to the Cheltenham Chase. As it turned out, this hotel is the other side of the town centre from the railway station, so I was happy that I did not attempt to walk it, even though most of the buildings on route deserved much more of my attention than they got, briskly passing them by in one of the finest Taxi Cheltenham had to offer! The decision had already been made that I would have to have a good long slow walk around regency Cheltenham to take in some of the finest buildings that this fair town has to offer.

After booking in at the hotel it was time to go exploring the towns finest buildings, but this would be after a brisk visit to one of the towns newest developments, an old brewery that has been redeveloped into a leisure and retail area, that, enough be it on that subject!

I love the regency building style the Spa town of Cheltenham has to offer, it’s simply unique in it’s own right, unfortunately though, business called my stay short, so I had to jump into a Cheltenham Airport Taxi and dash to Birmingham Airport in time for a 21.00 hrs flight to Aberdeen.

Luckily for me, I had already booked a full week off work in the near future to attend The Cheltenham Literature Festival in early October, so I will be able to return then and have a full and undisturbed week to take in all that this delightful Cotswold town has to offer.

One place I also want to visit on my next trip is The Pittville Pump Rooms. Not very exiting you may think, but you would be wrong! Going back to about 1715, this is when Cheltenham’s Spa water was first discovered on the site as well as at Cheltenham Ladies Collage. In 1788 it is reported that Queen Charlotte visited and bathed in the waters along with George III. Jumping forward to 1825, this is when the first foundation stone was laid of what is now known, and quite famously as the present Pittville Pump Rooms. Anyway, seems I am going off beat again, Cheltenham I will return in October…

Learn How To Loose Weight Fast

There’s no doubt that many people need to lose a few pounds.  Look around where people gather, you’ll notice the fat.  Look in the mirror, unfortunately you’ll likely see it there too.  If you’ve made fast weight loss your goal, keep a few simple things in mind to take off the pounds quickly and safely.

Skipping meals is one of the first things people often try when they want to lose weight.  It makes sense, right, cut out the calories by eating one less meal.  Fewer calories means losing weight, right?  Yes, but skipping meals is a mistake, not the right way to reduce calories.  Your body thinks it’s being starved when you skip meals.  It goes into “starvation” mode.  It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as a food shortage.  When you skip meals you’ll end up hungrier at the next meal.  The result is binge eating.  Skipping a meal plus binge eating, then, will likely result in eating more calories and the body gaining even more weight from those calories than normally.  It’s the worst of both worlds.  Don’t do it. You can find more information regarding how to boost your metabolism here.

Know how much to eat.  It’s called portion control and it’s as important as eating the right foods.  Too much of even a healthy food will still result in weight gain.  It’s hard to do when large portions are so common.  Restaurants and even most people in home cooking serve portions far larger than needed.  Sources such as the FDA list recommended daily allowances.  And remember portion size when you eat at restaurants, especially fast food restaurants.  You’ll likely have to cut down on what a restaurant serves.

Eat more whole grain foods, skip the white grains such as white bread, sugar and white rice.  Whole grains are rich in nutrients and low in fat.  The fiber in whole grains will make you feel fuller faster and longer.  Also whole grains contain many nutrients that are often lacking in people’s diets.

Consume more water.  Replace juice and soda with water since that juice and soda adds 90,000 calories to an average person’s diet every year.  Drink water between meals too.  In fact, the goal is 8 glasses of water each day.  It seems like a lot, but it’s not.  Drinking water also promotes health in general by keeping you well hydrated and helping to avoid overheating. Learn a good tip in how to boost your metabolism.

Eat healthy snacks between meals.  The body needs food every three to four hours to maintain proper blood sugar.  Eating healthy snacks, such as fruits, helps control eating at meal times.

Fast weight loss isn’t impossible with a little knowledge and planning.  Keep these things in mind and pretty soon you’ll see a slimmer you when you look into a mirror.

Learn how to boost your metabolism.

How to Budget your Income

Introduction
Learning to budget your money is one of those things where some people have no problem, yet others cannot do it for the life of them. Those of us who find budgeting easy and satisfying don’t really understand those people who can never manage their money properly.

1. Mr Macawber in David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, propounds the concept of budgeting. “Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pound nought and six, result misery.” Charles Dickens, David Copperfield, 1849 English novelist (1812 - 1870)

overspend and you will always be poor, as I found to my cost when first setting up my website development business, specialising in cms, But spend a penny less than you get and you will always feel rich which we have now achieved. This may seem very apparent, but how often do we find we are spending more than we can afford? There are tempting offers within our grasp every day and it’s difficult to resist when they try to make us believe we might never get such an opportunity again.

• Hands up if you are someone who has difficulty managing your money?
• Hands up if you do not know how to control your finances?
• Hands up if you find it difficult to resist bargains?
• Hands up if you are short of funds?
• Hands up if you don’t know how you are going to make ends meet for the next week?

If you have all your hands in the air (and your feet!) it’s time to do something about it. (In other words take yourself in hand!!) Sorry about the pun.

2. The first thing you need to understand is that people who are providing things for us to buy are in business to make money and they want their businesses to grow. To do this they have to increase sales, so they have to make things irresistible to the customers like you and me.

So remember, the next time you are owing money and struggling to pay the bills, there is some big guy out there raking in the profits. They are taking your hard earned cash and leaving you penniless.

Change of Mindset
People who do not budget and find it difficult to manage their money seem to have a particular mindset. For instance, there may be an idea from childhood that being careful with money indicates to the world that a person is stingy. Being reckless then equates with generosity and big heartedness. If you are loaded then spending money freely is not a problem, but if you are on a limited income or just never seem to have enough, then keeping accounts looks like a good idea.

3. One of the ways to change your thinking is to ask yourself, ‘who is the best person to benefit from your hard earned money’? Is it the big companies who are making loads of profit already(Fat cats) paying their executives million pound bonuses, or you!

Anxiety about your ability to manage your money and fear of figures may cause you to bury your head in the sand. I had a friend who admitted this to me and when I said I enjoyed the online banking system and being in charge of moving my money around and how easy I found it; she immediately changed her mind set and decided she could handle the online banking system and researched the best way to invest her money to make more of what she had.

Give yourself permission to think that being in control of your money is a practical way to remove the stress you experience around funds. That will give you more energy to enjoy life more and make even more money.

Guidelines to Liquidity
The most difficult thing to do is to face the truth. When someone is on a spending spree they are out of control and out of touch with reality. The fantasy ignores the cost and the consequences of overspending (ie. How it’s going to get repaid).

So the first thing you need to do is keep documentation of everything you spend your money on. At this stage do not try to change what you normally do. Have a cash note book and write down all the things you can think of that you buy. This includes household bills and food, mobile phone, TV. Put a figure in the corresponding column. If you have actual amounts put them in, if not make a stab at it. Leave space for the things you don’t remember or even consider expenses. Beer, cinema, clothes even the coins you toss to street entertainers. Categorise it as fun money or entertainment funds.

Every time you take money out of your pocket/wallet/credit card/bank, write down what you use it for. Do this over four weeks, and by then you will have a fairly comprehensive list of your expenses. Make a total at the bottom of the page and on the opposite page write down all your income. When I first did this I found that one of my largest expenses was shop bought sandwiches every day!

Compare the totals. Have you spent more or less than you receive? Is your life going towards happy or miserable? It is at this point you really need to make a shift in your thinking.

Start by being penny pinching to people who want to sell you things. Look around for the best deals and always ask to renegotiate deals. I went on a negotiating course some years ago and the following week I put into practise what we had learnt. I reduced my spending by $350, just by asking!

Carry only a minimum amount of money on you so that you are not tempted to fritter away $20 on some impulse purchase you don’t need. Those dollars add up fast and before you know a hundred dollars in your pocket is gone.

Cut up your credit card unless this is the most convenient way to pay regular items and you clear the balance at the end of each month. Use only one credit card, and find one that gives points for purchases. These mount up and you can claim vouchers to spend in your favourite shops. Also find a credit card that will take the full amount by direct debit every month so you don’t miss payments, accrue interest charges and generate a large fine.

Make a list when you go shopping and only buy what is on that list. OK, some things you may have forgotten to put down but make sure you avoid the impulse purchases. Keep a list in the kitchen and only put things on it when you have run out. Use up products in the cool cupboard and freezer to reduce waste and keep spending to a minimum.

Become a thrifty shopper and consumer. Try and use up coupons, saving a few saved cents per purchase can really add up. Searching through clearance sections in stores is another way to save money. You may be pleasantly surprised to see how much you can reduce your bill on your usual grocery haul.

Conclusion
Budgeting is not for the fainthearted. It means fighting the urge to buy what is not needed. I run a web design company and if you are like me the temptation is strong to buy all the latest gadgets. But if you can think yourself into a new mind set you will find it much easier to change the habits of a lifetime. Be sure that all expenses are accounted for when you take stock of your situation. Once you have your finances under control, there will be enough surplus to save and allow to grow for the special events you may want to treat yourself to in life.

If you still have difficulty curbing your shopping habit, take a friend or relative with you on outings. Someone you can trust to steer you away from temptation. Once you conquer your shopping demons, you will be proud of yourself for doing so and feel a great sense of accomplishment. So don’t be overwhelmed, grab that pen and paper and get on track to liquidity.

Happy Budgeting

Stop! Take Charge of Panic & Anxiety Attacks

For many people, panic attacks are a real problem that exists in their everyday lives, and can act to prevent them from being able to accomplish the everyday tasks that many of us take for granted, such as speaking in public or dealing with crowds. Thankfully, there are ways for people to get their panic attacks under control often without the intervention of a physician or a professional. Sometimes, however, to stop panic and anxiety attacks a doctor or psychiatrist is needed.

One rudimentary technique that has been shown to stop panic and anxiety attacks is to employ breathing techniques similar to those used in Lamaze or anger management classes. When using this simple process, the person having the anxiety attack uses a combination of breathing and counting to distract them from the stress that is causing the anxiety. This technique is simple enough to be used by anyone any time they are having an anxiety or panic attack.

When you are having a panic attack, your pulse rate can accelerate to an usafe level which cannot be sustained by the heart. If this continues, the heart can go into shock or arrest. During a panic attack other vital signs are affected as well. A seizure can result from the electical pulses in the brain sending nerves into overdrive. This breathing technique helps to calm the body and lower these body functions as well as focus the body on something other than what is triggering the anxiety.

For those who need more intense treatments for panic attacks, they can be sent for professional treatment. The majority of anxiety disorder panic treatment is done by medications that will decrease the anxiety level of your body during stressful times. The medication is taken during the onset period of a panic attack, which ensures that the body receives quick treatment.

Diamonds and History

Throughout history, diamonds have captured the interest of mankind with its brilliant sparkle and its durability and hardness. There are ancient myths and beliefs about diamonds, from it being the tears of gods to pieces of stars fallen from the sky.

One legend even tells of a valley of diamonds in Central Asia protected by murderous snakes and birds of prey.

The earliest accounting of diamonds date back some 3000 years ago in India, where it was first mined. In the ancient language of Sanskrit, the word diamond is taken from vajra, meaning thunderbolt, and indrayudha, meaning the weapon of Indra, who is warrior god from Vedic scriptures.

Diamonds began appearing again in history in the 13th century as part of European royalty, sharing settings with gold and pearls. Instead of its popularity due to mythical powers, as diamonds were once also used in the Dark Ages as a medical aid, diamonds were featured prominently in jewelry and royal regalia, especially by the 17th and 18th century

Because of the worth and value of this precious mineral, diamonds have also become a source of conflict. Today, diamonds mines in Central and West Africa have come under the control of revolutionary groups.

These profits from the sales of these ‘blood diamonds” have been used to finance their operations. But the common household might know more about diamonds from a De Beers commercial than from news of conflict diamonds.

De Beers is a well-known diamond store and its “A diamond is forever” advertising campaign is one the most successful and innovative campaigns in marketing history.

And that is why the diamond has in history, also become a symbol of love. In 1477, Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave an everlasting symbol of his affection to Mary of Burgundy, a diamond ring that has started the tradition of wedding rings.

Since then, women have been dreaming of wearing their own diamond ring on their hand before getting married. Throughout history, diamonds have been known for its excellent physical properties and even its ties to spiritual and seemingly mystical powers. Its value and worth have only increased during the centuries and will endure on, as diamonds are forever.
